After a brief career with the Indoor Football League and the NFL’s Tennessee Titans, Torrie Griffin decided he wanted to know the secrets to improving weight loss and sports performance. So, he headed back to school to learn the ins and outs of exercise science. While in school, he served as a financial aid counselor, and with his job and lectures, he was sitting at a desk all day, every day. As a result, he watched his waistline go from 38” to 44” in less than a year.
In those days, it was all about counting calories and eating high-protein, low-fat meals — carbohydrates were not yet the “enemy.” But as he continued to learn about nutrition, and not see results in his own waistline, he realized that this approach wasn’t very effective. He now understood that for successful weight loss, most people actually need a moderate-protein, high-fat, low-carb diet, and to exercise at least four hours each week.
So, Torrie put his knowledge and passion to the test and set out to help others like him. And that’s how Fitness Love was born! The full-service boot camp, nestled in the basement of an apartment complex in Sandy Springs, opened its doors to Atlanta in 2008 with one goal in mind: to help people achieve ultimate weight loss success in a healthy and sustainable way.
And, boy, has it been successful. What started as a small group of members and one trainer has exploded into hundreds of members and seven trainers, with four locations in the Atlanta area and a fully-staffed kitchen and meal plan service.
